2009 Spring Soccer at East Lake

Teams have been formed, games are scheduled and t-shirts are ready for pick-up.

Spring Soccer runs Fridays for 5 weeks from April 17-May 15 (and Tuesday May 12th). Complete program details are available below. For players who played in the Fall 2008 (Competitive or Recreational) the cost is $60 all others pay $75. Teams can play together or ask for assignment to an age appropriate team. We have limited availability in certain age groups.

Sign-ups are a two step process:

Important things to keep in mind as you sign-up:

  • We are seeking Sponsors for our Spring Soccer Program. Check with your tax profesional, we are a registered non-profit so your donation is likely tax deductable.
  • We are seeking Volunteers to implement our Spring Soccer Program. East Lake Soccer is a volunteer organization indicate your willingness to help during online registration. If you didn't sign-up you can always offer to help on game day.

Youth Academy

Reminder
  • Players, arrive at the fields AT LEAST 15-minutes before session start. Games start on-time
  • Player Uniform is: Spring T-Shirt (ELSA to provide), black shorts, Shin guards, and Black socks (Cleats optional). Every Youth Academy player should bring a #3 ball to every session.
  • Players bring water and keep it with them (not parents)
Format

Youth Academy is a new format this year. It consists of fun games/activities for half the 1 hour session and 3v3 games for the remainder. A licensed coach will oversee the development session (first half) and is available for questions. Coaches are the referee, although a paid referee is available for questions. The objective of the season is fun, participation and skill development.

 

Arrive at 5:15 p.m., the session starts promptly at 5:30. Players check in at the check-in table and can request to play with a friend or a specific coach (see the schedule for coach field assigments) Coaches are assigned to specific fields, and are issued pennies by the Referee at the begining of the session (for 3v3 games). Coaches are responsible for returning pennies at the end of the session for use in later games.

 

Skills Session (first half)

  • Children rotate through three coach led skill stations (approximately 10 minutes to a station)
  • The Referee will announce when children move to the next station. Coaches stay on their field.
  • The activities will change throughout the season and are based on the ELSA Youth Curriculum (click here to view)

3v3 Games (second half)

  • 20 X 30 yards, field (may be changed)
  • 3v3 Games are 24-minutes
    • Four 3-minute quarters,
    • half-time break,
    • four 3-minute quarters
    • All players play 50% of games
  • Coaches oversee both sides of 3v3 match-ups. Half the players wear pennies.
  • Coaches can adjust teams to keep the matches fun
  • Coaches are on the field and act as referee for the match
  • No offsides
  • No keepers (do not use hands, do not defend without hands)
  • Retake throw-ins until a good one is made

U9-12 Bracket

Format

Check the game schedule, games are scheduled at BOTH 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.(view the schedule). Players arrive at the fields 15-minutes prior to game time, unless the coach instructs you to arrive earlier.

Referee will assign pennies to coaches before the match begins. Coaches are responsible for returning pennies at the end of the session for use in later games.

5v5 Games (including keeper)

  • Maximum team roster 10 players
  • ELSA Referee provided, Coaches not allowed on the field
  • Referee provides pennies to the away
  • 35 X 50 yard field
  • 2 periods of 25-minutes
  • All players play at a minimum 50% of each game
  • No offsides
  • All Free Kicks are Indirect, including Penalty Kicks (taken on the Penalty Box line at the point closest to where the foul occurred).
  • Use of the Goal Throw:  NO Punting, Drop Kicks, or Goal Kicks.
    • Keeper will always distribute the ball by hand (Goal Throw).
    • A Goal Throw cannot cross midfield without first touching the throwing team's side of the field; if this rule is violated the opposing team is awarded a Goal Throw.
    • At ALL times when the Keeper has possession of the ball in the penalty area, rules similar to a Goal Kick are in effect:
      • The Keeper must distribute the ball outside the penalty area.
      • No players from either team can touch the ball until it is out of the penalty area.
      • The Keeper cannot play the ball with his or her feet until another player touches it, with the standard back pass to the Keeper rule being in effect
  • Substitutions are Hot Swap (as in indoor soccer or hockey)
    • The Referee will NOT stop the game for substitutions.
    • Substitutions are made while the game is underway, or when the game has stopped for a goal, injury, card, or halftime.  Throw-Ins, Goal Throws, and Corner Kicks do not stop the game.
    • Substitutions are made in front of a team's bench.
    • A player must be completely off the field before a new player enters the field.
    • Too many players on the field results in a free kick taken 2 yards out from the middle of the top of the offending team's penalty box.

  • Referee provided, Coaches are NOT allowed on the field
  • Referee will provide pennies and a small game ball
  • No offsides
  • No keepers (do not use hands, do not defend in the goal mouth without hands)
  • All Free Kicks are Indirect
  • Substitutions are Hot Swap (as in indoor soccer or hockey)
    • The Referee will NOT stop the game for substitutions.
